Comparable to Lecanopteris mirabilis, which occurs on Sulawesi, New Guinea and the Moluccas, this New World species forms flat rhizomes, under which ants also nest. It has a fairly large distribution area and has been found in Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia and Peru.
The species is systematically very close to Solanopteris - in fact, Solanopteris is now considered by most authors to belong to the genus Microgramma.
A beautiful plant that is still rarely found in cultivation.
