Myrmecodia cf. rouffaerensis (nomen nudum) (Angemuk, Irian Jaya)

Product information "Myrmecodia cf. rouffaerensis (nomen nudum) (Angemuk, Irian Jaya)"

Myrmecodia rouffaerensis is mentioned in Jebb’s monograph but has not yet been described – it is therefore what is known as a nomen nudum.

I suspect that this is either Myrmecodia rouffaerensis (nomen nudum) or a related species, but the location is far from the collection site of the specimens mentioned in Jebb (BLUMEA 37 (1993) specimens.

Interestingly, there is another very similar species in cultivation, which originates from the Nabire area.

The inflorescences differ markedly from all other known Myrmecodia species and bear a strong resemblance to M. longissima and M. oblongata

However, the flowers of Myrmecodia rouffaerensis (nomen nudum) are bright red – another distinctive feature within the genus!
