Product information "Nepenthes hemsleyana (Borneo)"
Nepenthes hemsleyanawas long thought to be a smaller form of Nepenthes rafflesiana with clearly elongated upper pitchers.
now described as a separate species, it is characterised by the fact that small bats rest in the pitchers during the day. The plants provide shelter for the bats and in return are fertilised with the help of their excrement - a true symbiosis.
It has meanwhile even been proven that the pitchers of the long shoots reflect the ultrasound of bats particularly well, making them easier to find!
