An impressive species from the N. bongso, N. izumiae and N. densiflora group. N. naga is found on the Barisan Mountains in Sumatra.
Nepenthes naga displays a spreading, dark red or almost black peristome, mostly dark pitchers, and a characteristic forked appendage at the tip of the lid, which gives it the name N. naga. "Naga" is Indonesian for dragon, as this appendage resembles the forked tongue of a dragon.
This is usually much more pronounced in the light green upper pitchers.
Very pretty species, which depending on the individual can show a beautifully broad, black peristome and grows quite large.
